"I still don't like him," Kurt whispered by Blaine's ear as they entered the club. It had been tedious so far. They'd gotten ready to go to a club, which Kurt felt he was dressed for perfectly and Blaine, under his expert guidance, looked amazing. He had talked him into the curls at least being slightly less restrained than usual, his clothes fit like a dream and he was so gorgeous that he wasn't surprised that Sebastian kept complimenting him and sneaking glances.
Not surprised, but perturbed. He was trying not to let it affect him but that was easier said than done. Sebastian's outfit was as uninspired as ever, he mocked any attempt of Kurt's to coax him into more club-appropriate wear. Whatever.
Here they were, walking into the club, Kurt's hand in Blaine's to make sure he wouldn't wander off. "I see Axel," he pointed out, pulling them that way. At least then he wasn't suffering alone.
"Hey," he greeted his ex with a smile, "Here we are. That's the friend I told you we'd bring. Sebastian Smythe." He gestured at Sebastian to introduce him. "It's his first time partying in New York."
Blaine knew that Kurt didn't like Sebastian, he had told him multiple times before and today. Not that Sebastian seemed to notice or care that Kurt clearly glared at him and gave him death stares whenever he tried to flirt with Blaine. Blaine had one mission today - no dancing with Sebastian. He wanted to show Kurt that Sebastian is and always was no threat.
Unlike Axel, who he begrudgingly greeted with a smile, trying not to make it obvious that he didn't like him. He tried, he really did, but he didn't like him.
"Hey, beautiful boy!" Axel called to Kurt as he hugged him and then slapped Blaine on the arm. Blaine was glad. He didn't want any hugs! Or maybe he did but only from Kurt. Axel turned to Sebastian and looked him up and down curiously. "Woah, baby face. You'll be a hit here. Watch yourself, yeah?"
"I will not, thanks." Sebastian shook Axel's hand and then looked around, curiously taking in the talent. He wanted to find the hottest guy and have sex with them - as funny as it would be to try and pull Blaine, he knew that ship had sailed. It was just funny to get under Kurt's skin.
"He's used to the bar back in Lima, so this is a very different arena." Kurt wondered whether Sebastian had any awareness of how easily people here would clock him as a small town boy, someone knew. Might mean he had more appeal, so whatever. He sat down by Axel, pulling Blaine down with him and wrapping an arm around his boyfriend. "We're here to show Sebastian around. Are you alone tonight?"
He looked around for any sign of people he knew Axel knew, but in the dim lights of the club that was hard to tell.
"Oh, I'm never alone. I always have friends. Though my pretty piper tagged along because I'm paying for drinks and he's angry and horny." As he always was. Axel shrugged his shoulders and took a sip of his drink, looking at Blaine and Kurt snuggling. Aw. Blaine was still glaring at him. "Small town gay bars are boring. You'll have fun here."
Sebastian sat himself down and looked around, eyeing up some of the guys but not sure how he felt about the bar. The music alone was a mind fuck. "Woah." Sebastian mumbled as he heard some high pitched guys excitedly celebrating something across the way, dressed like weird 80s gays. "Looks like you found your people here, lady-face."
"Hey, we talked. No insults." Blaine insisted as he pressed his foot down on Sebastian's pointedly.
"Hey," Kurt knocked the bathroom door gently. He was in pyjamas, he had done his night-time skincare routine and he was too wired to sleep. Blaine was out and, evidently, so were Hartley and Finn, pretty much lying right next to each other on the bathroom floor. He wasn't that surprised, Axel had told him that Hartley could sleep anywhere and frequently would.
"Do you want some hot milk or tea or something?" He asked Axel, as Axel was the only one awake. "We could sit in the kitchen."
"Sure." No, he didn't really want hot milk but he did want an excuse to not be sitting on the floor by a bathroom, answering work emails and trying to edit sketches on his phone. He quietly got up, double checked on Hartley and then moved out of the room, closing the door quietly behind him. "I don't usually drink hot drinks unless they're coffee so sure, introduce me to tea. Welcome me into your world, Bambi."
He smiled at Kurt playfully and followed him across the living room and into the kitchen. It was a really nice place. This Mercedes' chick had some serious cash. "How are you doing?"
"There's a lot of different teas... Though we have a wider selection at mine and Rachel's place." Kurt put the kettle on and then he leaned against the counter, trying to figure out how to answer that question. Really, he'd have had an easier time discussing different kinds of tea. "I'm sorry that I dragged you into it. And Hartley. I just had no idea what to do. I'm trying to pretend like I know, but I don't."
Kurt shrugged, hating how helpless he really felt. He had to button and unbutton his shirt five times before coming down the stairs. It was going to get difficult to hide all the quirks from Blaine. "I know it might not work. I'm not stupid."
"Give me a moment..." Jesse had heard Sebastian sing a few tunes, mockingly, but that was all it took. He got out of his seat at a table he shared with some friends and walked over to Sebastian, side-stepping some vaguely familiar guy in a wheelchair and some Asian chick.
His focus was on Sebastian and he lifted a hand up to cover him from the neck down, so he could substitute that Dalton uniform in his head. "You were a Warbler, right? I never forget a voice."
He smiled, in a way he knew was exceedingly charming, gesturing to the stage. They were between performances, with the one Sebastian had mocked having just ended. "Will you sing with me?"
He didn't really want to be here with these two but somehow, he got an invite and in the spirit of making friends and all, he went. He didn't know what he thought of them but Blaine told him they were cool. Even if that Tina chick kept touching him and giving him heart eyes.
He was in the middle of his sadly non-alcoholic drink then Jesse St James approached. "I'm a Warbler. You were... Vocal Adrenaline, right?" He had vague memories of that floppy hair and that was about it. At the request, he snorted a laugh. Sing with him? Pfft.
"You wouldn't be able to keep up but if you want, your funeral." Sebastian didn't back down to anyone. He eyed up Jesse one more time and then tilted his head. Leather pants. Nice.
"...do you not--" Confused, Jesse blinked and looked at the two he did remember, "Does he not know me?"
It seemed like a fair question. Yes, he was Vocal Adrenaline, but he had truly been Vocal Adrenaline the entire consecutive championship run. He was a show choir legend and, these days, he was starting to make a name of himself in these circles in New York as well.
Artie shrugged, "He's a year below us, I think he missed most of your tenure."
"And Seabee has only been in New York since this semester," Tina further clarified, while patting Sebastian's arm.
Jesse frowned, then gave a nod. All right, he could work with that. "I see. A young ingenue."
He shrugged and held a hand out to Sebastian. "All the better. The best way to learn all about me is singing together."

Are you home so I can drop it off?
no subject
you can drop it off, I'm home, working
so you're still seeing Hartley? Axel is going to start getting jealous
no subject
A little jealousy is a good thing, I'm probably doing them a favour.
I'm heading to the subway now. I hate the subway.
