Joaquin was going to stick around. His heart was racing in his chest and he looked around, noticing that people did notice them but honestly, he didn't care. The teachers could yell, it was what it was. His head was full of Joaquin and nothing else.
"I really want to cut school and come with you." Kevin admitted because how could he even begin to focus. But also - cutting school? Yikes!
"How are you gonna keep that perfect attendance record if you do that? I remember seeing that plague up in your room." It had been very impressive, Joaquin thought. Adorable and also the opposite of him in every way. He had never attended anything much and he was ever so far from perfect. Then there was Kevin, with his flawless everything.
"I've got ID that says I'm twenty-one and I've got bartending experience, so maybe that. Scandals, right? Maybe a nice change, working in a gay bar instead of surrounded by straight gangsters."
"Oh, there goes every free evening I have to Scandals." He would camp out there indefinitely. He was determined to not lose Joaquin. The more time they spend together, the more time he had to work his magic and try to cement himself as the best and only option for Joaquin. In a nice romantic way, not a creepy serial killer way. Naturally.
"If I go back to class, you have to promise that you'll pick me up after school. That's 3:15." He crossed his arm and gave Joaquin a stubborn look. "If not, I'll just have to follow you and ruin my perfect rep."
"I promise," Joaquin did promise, his heart doing all sort of things that he'd never permitted it to do and that still wouldn't stop. It didn't feel real, that this boy really liked him. Liked him enough to follow him, if need be. Liked him even after what he'd done to him.
Maybe Kevin was just insane. He cupped the side of his face with his hand, just to touch him. Perfect jawline. "Stay in school, preppy."
He smiled softly at Joaquin and then brushed his hair back from his face. So handsome. His eyes were beautiful. How was he this lucky to see him again?
A member of staff was approaching them so he hastily pushed Joaquin back towards the fence, with great reluctance. "3:15pm. Don't be late. And if you are, bring flowers and I'll pretend you meant to be late. Hell, you can pick some from the grass, I don't care."
"You're insane," Joaquin informed Kevin and then he turned to sprint toward the fence and climb over it as quickly as he could, so he could get the hell out of here and not get his good boy into any trouble.
