"That's especially awful considering your taste in coffee," Ed responded aloud once he was inside the store. He turned to the side to squeeze past the gaggle of schoolgirls that were browsing the manga section, passed a guy who was looking at one comic while really glancing at another that featured cleavage heavily on the cover and then there he was, leaning by the counter.
"Let's see what we're working with here. Not too bad on the hair, Blainiac, I think we can work this. Have you thought of any lines yet?"
"My coffee taste is fine." Blaine dismissed as he made sure Sam was available before gesturing at Ed to follow him into the back. They had a small storage room here but it had enough space to have this talk and not have half of the local middle school hear it. "We got the new Pokémon card delivery today, going to display them tomorrow."
Why was he telling Ed about that like he would care even an inch? He looked at the other with a sheepsh smile. "I was just going to ask him for coffee, if he wants to, no pressure. And that I think he's beautiful. And maybe that he's my soulmate and we have destiny. I can tell by how we held hands, you know?"
"Right. Have you picked out the ring yet? Where you'll honeymoon? Name of your firstborn child?" Ed had to laugh at the earnest boy in front of him, putting a hand on his shoulder and patting it reassuringly. "Granted, I know I'm a commitment-phobe. But there's some middle ground between sabotaging any relationship that begins to feel real and getting engaged before the first date."
Might help with not coming across like a complete lunatic. "Asking him out for coffee is a good start. Now that you've established that you do, in fact, like it. I don't know about 'beautiful', but hey. I'd be charmed. Hard to not melt when you look at someone with your puppy dog eyes."
