"Blainiac! Are you ready? Because I've got a super nutritional breakfast for you here and we've got to get our hot asses out the door in T minus ten if we want to make it to your new school in time for the tour."
Ed knocked the door a couple times before heading back to the kitchen, where he had made Blaine a breakfast wrap so he could have it in the bus on the way to school. He knew his brother needed a proper breakfast in order not to be starving later. For himself, he had a thermos filled with coffee and more sugar in it than he'd want to admit to. He had grown-up needs.

He had grown-up needs.
Ed took issue with the clothing, the hair and the bowtie, but it was what Blaine wanted and he was just happy that he no longer seemed entirely terrified of leaving the house. He handed him his wrap, holding out a bottle as well. "Water. You can't have coffee on your breath when we get to school, they'll judge me. It's a gateway drug."
He'd know, he had already taken actual drugs at Blaine's age. No need to get into that though. Ed headed for the door, holding it open for Blaine. "We've got to catch the bus. It's the earlier one, so there won't be that many people."
Gave Blaine some time to adjust.

"Nah. It's free for you, cause you're a student. It ain't much for me either. It's a bus, Blainiac. They smell and have weird people on them. Sometimes you have to sit next to them." Not a pleasant experience, though Ed couldn't quite imagine what it'd be like for Blaine, who had never been on a bus before. Not like this. "The kids at that school you're going to, they will be a lot more crass than you're used to, yeah? I mean, they are all the same amount of asshole, but these will use worse language. Just make sure to make friends quickly and you'll be fine. You are a charmer."
"It's not the worst. I always went to public schools and I... Well, I graduated." So there was that. He didn't know what else to say in praise of the public school system. He had survived it, at least. "The cheerleading team has been national champion for several years running, so there's that. The coach is off her rocker, but at least there's results."
Had to give her that. "Do you want to join a club?"

"Just feel it out. And-- I'm proud of you, Blainiac. Being yourself and all that." He wrapped an arm around his brother as they walked onto the bus, smiling at him from the side. "But you don't have to put too much on yourself. You are out and proud but you don't have to represent every gay in America at all times. It's normal to be careful sometimes. Even I've got my moments."
He let Blaine sit down first and then settled in next to him. "I won't ever judge you."

"You're my little brother, Blainiac. It's my job to look out for you. Before puberty hit, I got pushed around every day of my then very short life. I ain't ever gonna let that happen to you." Ed looked at his brother and reached out, trying to gently coax some life back into that slicked down hair. Damn, he looked like a Ken doll. Was that really what the kids liked these days?
"Come to the Lima Bean after school. You can bring any friends you've made, I'll give you a discount." Why not? Not as if he liked that job, might as well give things away.

"Honestly, the miracle is actually that that hick ever lasted more than a day in a big city. Who drives a pick-up truck in NYC? What's wrong with him?" A lot, evidently, at least as far as his country-ness was concerned. It was so off-putting and arousing. "He's been itching for a chance to go somewhere where the cows outnumber the people. He feels more at home there, so, really? You've done him a favour."
Massive inconvenience for Ed, but he wasn't about to point that out. "Okay. Time to be a good guardian. What do good guardians ask when they get a school tour?"

"Uh-huh, baby bro. You've got this." Ed handed Blaine his small bottle of hand sanitizer and then got out ahead of him, waiting outside the bus. "Never touch the button directly, unless you've got hand sanitizer. Either you pull your sleeve up or you wait for someone else to press. Maybe ask them, even if you've got to pretend to have suddenly developed a button-push allergy. You want to stay healthy, Blainiac, gotta steer clear of those bacte-- Why, hello there."
Ed had noticed a redhead staring at him during his explanation, enraptured. Of course that meant that he flashed her a smile, she ended up giggling and then walking toward the school.
"All right!" He whistled and wrapped an arm around Blaine, pulling him along. "I can't wait for parent-teacher night."

"You're lucky your shoulders have already come in. At your age, I could still fit inside a locker too easily." Ah, the sweet embrace of puberty. How he thanked it for all the good it had done him. Ed looked around, trying to see any sign of just how endangered his brother might be. "I guess we should ask about Glee club. If they've got a Glee club, there's bound to be at least some half-gay teens. Bicurious. Something to work with."
Wait.
"I'm trying to find you like minds, not a boyfriend. You're too young to date anyway."

"Yeah, there's a good role model to have. The wonder twink. Being easy doesn't make you cool, remember that." Maybe that was hypocritical, but Ed didn't think he was cool because he was easy. Those were just too unrelated facts about him. He stopped by a notice board, raising his eyebrows. "I mean. They've definitely got a lot of clubs..."
What the hell were half of these even? "When do they have time for normal lessons?"

"Whatever you want, Blainiac." Ed took the pen from it and quickly added something on after Blaine's name, a B inside a heart, as graffiti looking as he could make it look with that pen. "Just because we ain't in the city doesn't mean my brother doesn't get his own tag."
He turned and winked at him, then reached out to right his bowtie. "Let's go. Haven't been to the principal's office in ages."

"I don't know, Blainiac. You've met the principal, I think the teachers might not even notice they don't know you yet." So he wasn't overly worried about that. He glanced at his brother, realising that he very much was that nervous. Poor guy. "Look, you're new here. No one knows you. If you fake being confident, you'll already be halfway there. Fake it till you make it, right?"
Seemed like an easy enough mantra. "And remember that Jon had a stutter at your age and he survived somehow too."
